Water Heater

Water heater repair, one vetted pro at a time

No hot water, hot water that runs out fast, or a tank that is leaking — describe it and Roger books one licensed local pro and confirms the time.

What is Roger?

Roger is a nationwide service that books water heater repair and replacement with one vetted, licensed local pro instead of auctioning your request. Describe what is happening — no hot water, hot water that runs out fast, a leaking tank — and Roger assigns one pro and confirms the appointment. Homeowners pay Roger nothing.

What Roger handles

  • No hot water at any fixture
  • Hot water runs out much faster than it used to
  • Water is lukewarm no matter the setting
  • Water pooling under or around the tank
  • Rumbling, popping, or banging from the tank
  • Rusty or discolored hot water, or a rotten-egg smell
  • Pilot light or gas burner that won't stay lit
  • Tankless unit throwing an error code

Not on the list? Describe it anyway. Roger reads the problem in plain language and routes it to the right trade.

Water Heater questions, answered

How do I book water heater work through Roger?
Describe what is happening — no hot water, water that runs cold fast, a puddle under the tank. Roger books one vetted, licensed local pro and confirms the appointment, so you know which company is coming before they arrive.
Does Roger charge homeowners anything?
No. Roger is free for homeowners. The pro charges for the work and Roger does not add a markup on top of their price.
There is water under my tank. What should I do right now?
Shut off the water supply to the heater at the valve on the cold inlet, and cut its power — the breaker for an electric unit, or the gas valve for a gas one. A tank that is leaking from the body itself does not get repaired; it gets replaced, and it will not get better while you wait. If the leak is at a fitting rather than the tank, that is often a repair.
Should I repair it or replace it?
It usually comes down to age and where the failure is. Thermostats, heating elements, gas valves and thermocouples are repair parts. A tank that has rusted through is not. A pro should tell you which one you have after looking at it, not before.
Is a rumbling or popping tank dangerous?
It is usually sediment at the bottom of the tank boiling under a layer of scale, which is more of an efficiency and lifespan problem than an immediate danger. But it is a sign the tank is aging, and it is worth having looked at rather than lived with. Never cap, block, or plug the temperature and pressure relief valve — that valve is the safety device.
