How do I book a roofer through Roger?

Describe what you are seeing — where the stain is, what came off in the storm, where the water shows up when it rains. Photos help a lot here. Roger books one vetted, licensed local roofer and confirms the appointment.

Does Roger charge homeowners anything?

No. Roger is free for homeowners. The roofer charges for the work and Roger does not add a markup on top of their price.

Should I get up there and look myself?

No. Falls from roofs are among the most common serious home-repair injuries, and a storm-damaged roof can have soft decking that gives way underfoot. Take photos from the ground, and from inside the attic if you can get there safely. Let the inspection happen from a ladder held by somebody who does it for a living.

Someone knocked on my door after the storm offering a free roof inspection. Should I let them?

Be cautious with anyone who shows up uninvited after a storm, especially if they want you to sign something on the spot or offer to handle your insurance claim for you. Storm-chasing crews follow weather and leave. A local roofer with a real address and a license you can verify is a better bet, and nothing about a genuine roof problem requires you to decide in the next ten minutes.

It only leaks sometimes. Is it still worth calling?

Yes. An intermittent leak usually means water is getting in under specific conditions — wind direction, ice damming, heavy sustained rain. It does not mean the problem is small, and water that has been running inside a roof assembly for a season does damage you cannot see from the ceiling.
