What the algorithm checks, in order
Most platforms won't tell you how they choose. Roger shows you every step, and logs the result.
Coverage
Does this contractor serve your ZIP and category? Is their license current? Is their insurance current? Any no, and they're out.
Eligibility filters
Active (not suspended or at-risk)? Payouts working through Stripe? Under their self-set daily job cap? If not, skip.
Quality score
Each remaining contractor gets a deterministic score on public weights. New contractors with under 3 reviews start at the 4.6★ industry average so they're not penalized for being new.
Fairness cap
No single contractor wins more than 35% of matches in your metro and category in any 7-day window, so no one can buy or dominate their way to the top.

Every match decision is logged. If you ever think a match was unfair, ask, we can show you exactly why this contractor was picked.

On your booking screen you'll see a one-line explanation, e.g. "Matched to [contractor] because: 4.7★ avg on 280 jobs, 2-min response, licensed and active this week."
